A bumpy ride ... continued?

Well ... it seems that Somerset County Council has received a £9.84 million grant from the Chancellor for highways capital projects, money which has to be spent before the end of the current financial year.

Good news ... but with a sting.

Our County Councillor tells us that, believe it or not, the council isn’t sure it can find enough projects on which to spend it quickly enough.

Nonetheless he thinks the Hatch Beauchamp pavements would be an ideal project for this fund and

at the recent Parish Council meeting promised to pursue the case for Hatch. He also told me that he’s asked the County officers to re-acquaint themselves with the situation by visiting to inspect the pavements for themselves. There can be no doubt the job needs doing we just need the urgency of the situation to be acknowledged and acted upon.
