Parish Council – April Report

At our meeting in March we discussed several projects, progress with Greener Hatch Beauchamp plans for using their funds, an update on the new Footpath signs, installation of the Speed Indicator Devices, plus the construction of our Emergency Plan. We also had an update on the action which has been taken following the recent Antisocial Behaviour in the village. Thank you to residents who have been happy to report incidents they have witnessed.

At the meeting, a resident agreed to research the possibility and cost of installing another defibrillator in the village, following the medical emergency at the Village Hall earlier in the year.

Councillors agreed to help fund new playground equipment near the Village Hall and the grass cutting of the Village Hall field.

The Neighbourhood Plan has now completed its formal review by the Independent inspector and will go to a referendum for approval by the local community. Somerset Council have set a provisional date of 25th June for this. Visit hatchbeauchamp.com/neighbourhood-plan to view the Plan and supporting documents. We urge you to vote in favour of this plan – it has come out of local consultation and if nothing else it will ensure extra money from infrastructure levies will go to the parish directly – including nearly £20,000 arising from a development already in the pipeline.

The next Village Tidy morning will take place on Saturday 2 May, starting at the Village Hall at 10.00.  If you know of any parts of the village which need tidying, please let us know via the Parish Clerk Helen Chadwick hatchbeauchamp.pc@gmail.com. Please join us for a morning of working and chatting, refreshments will be available at the end the morning.

We will be holding our Annual meeting on Wednesday 6 May at 19:30 in the village hall in conjunction with the Village Hall trustees. Come along to hear about progress with our projects this year and plans for next year. Refreshments will be available.

After the traffic chaos on Monday 30 March around the village, we are in contact with the Police to help create a successful diversion plan which would prevent large lorries using the single-track roads around the village in the future.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Village Tidy and our Annual meeting.
