Parish Council – October report

The Autumn Village Tidy will be held on Saturday 1 November, our plans include a litter pick, clearing pavement edges, weatherproofing various village seats and completing the painting of the War Memorial railings in time for Remembrance Day. If you have any other places in the village which you feel need a tidy, please let us know. We’ll be meeting at the Village Hall at 10.00 if you’d like to join in, all ages welcome.

The Somerset Independent Living Centre has now opened in Taunton Library where you will be able to try out equipment and technology to make daily living easier. To find out more information you can call 0300 123 2224 or visit www.somerset.gov.uk/equipment

Village councillors will be attending a Community Resilience Day next week to get ideas about improving emergency preparedness in our village, and to help make us better equipped to respond to emergencies if they happen.

We’ve made more progress on our Neighbourhood Plan, and it has now been submitted to Somerset Council to put it through the next stages. The Plan itself, including supporting documents is now on display at the Village Hall (in the committee room) for public inspection. Please go along and have a look at these documents as a local referendum, where parish residents vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to adopting the plan, will be held.
