We are very pleased to report that at the Somerset Council committee meeting on 22 July our parish Neighbourhood Plan was ‘made’ (adopted) by the Council, so we will now be able to shape development in our village and gain additional funds from developers to create facilities in the village.
The drain clearers have been working in our village, to help our community by keeping village properties and roads clear of winter flooding. We only get the drain clearers every four years and its important work to make sure surface water is cleared off our roads as soon as possible when we get torrential downpours. We will continue to carry out drain surveys to ensure all our drains, including drains which have disappeared under verge vegetation, are kept as clear as possible to keep winter flooding to a minimum.
Thanks to Iwan Witt on his work researching the best option for the new defibrillator at the village hall which hopefully will be installed shortly.
You may have noticed that the Children’s home in the village has closed while Somerset Council decide on the future of this project.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday 9 September at 19:00 in the Village Hall, in the meantime enjoy this glorious summer weather.
The village website now has an events calendar which can be found here: hatchbeauchamp.com/events . You can see details of the next major event in September (car meet) amongst other things. If you would like to post your event here please contact kevin@hatchbeauchamp.com
