At our May meeting a resident raised the issue of mowing of the verges in the village, these were cut shortly after the meeting.
We were updated on the installation of our Speed Indicator Device which hopefully will be completed in June. The white lines on our roads will also be repainted; the speed limit repeater signs will be repaired and a discussion on extending the speed limits at either end of the village is planned.
A new Dog Bin has been ordered for the upper end of Station Road, to provide more space to reduce the overflowing of these bins, especially as we get towards the warmer part of the year. Please can all dog owners help to keep our Parish clean and remember to pick up after their dogs.
We discussed the need for an additional defibrillator to be installed at the Village Hall after the medical emergency in January, and the costs of the various options from various suppliers.
Please vote in the upcoming Neighbourhood Plan referendum on 25th June. It has been some 5 years in the making and has cleared all the hurdles, needing majority approval of the parish to become part of Somerset Council’s local plan and affect planning decisions. You can read it in full online hatchbeauchamp.com/neighbourhood-plan or see paper copies at Deane House, Belvedere Road TA1 1HE
Curiously Parish Councillors are not allowed to campaign for the outcome one way or another, so this is why this notice is confined to factual matters only
If the Neighbourhood Plan is adopted, an additional 10% of the funding raised from larger developments goes to the Parish Council. In the case of a currently pending approval application, this would amount to £20,000 (around 3 times what we get annually from council tax)
Greener Hatch Beauchamp will hold their latest repair café on Saturday 27 June in our Village Hall and have raised more funds for the project to install solar panels on the Hall. You will still be able to have items repaired again at their next café later in the year.
We have been supporting residents affected by the disruption around the Children’s Home in May.

Please can we find out when village road is going to be resurfaced ?
I am a little concerned that this comment about the Neighbourhood Plan…
“additional 10% of the funding raised from larger developments goes to the Parish Council. In the case of a currently pending approval application, this would amount to £20,000 (around 3 times what we get annually from council tax) ”
Will influence the council in approving large developments in the village area inappropriate to the village needs.
